NIGHT VISION FUNDAMENTALS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

Night vision equipment is often issued to officers with little or no formal training or structured onboarding. Having the equipment does not automatically translate into the ability to use it safely and effectively. This two-day course addresses that fundamental training gap, providing law enforcement officers with a practical foundation in night vision systems and laser aiming devices.

Through classroom instruction, equipment setup, and progressive live-fire exercises, students will explore system capabilities and limitations, equipment integration, zeroing procedures, and active and passive aiming techniques. Range training emphasizes safe weapon handling, target identification, and accurate shooting while using night vision equipment.

Students will leave with a stronger understanding of their equipment, greater confidence in its use, and a foundation for continued training.

Topics include:

• Night vision systems, capabilities, and limitations
• Laser aiming devices and infrared illuminators
• Equipment setup and integration
• Zeroing procedures and verification
• Active and passive aiming techniques
• Progressive live-fire shooting skills
